Veterans Day Assembly

This Morning we had our Veterans Day Assembly. Our guest speaker Lutenint Chase Groomes skyped in from Cuba, he said many insparational things about honor and sacrifice. Soon after his speech our students Iris and Micheal preformed with some other 5th graders in front of the whole school.

An afternoon of STEM exploration!

Wow! The amount of support for the things that I have been trying in the classroom is overwhelming!
We recently got LittleBits circuit sets and K'Nex for our classroom and the kids are eating it up.
I love that you can see the discussion about design going on with this K'Nex roller coaster kit.

I was lucky enough to get a huge K'Nex set for exploring simple and complex machines.  Just letting my students have time to figure out how the pieces all work together right now.

If you don't yet know about the awesomeness of littleBits I highly recommend checking them out.
They are circuits that snap together using magnets allowing students to create something that does something super quickly. Then, the pieces can be taken apart to build something new.
Looking forward to combining the electronics with the simple machines!
I especially love being able to show my girls video of the littleBits founder, Ayah Bdeir.
